holly halter pattern ♡

holly halter is worked all in one piece ♡

size suggestions for worsted weight yarn & 5mm hook ♡

chest size: A (24 rows), B (26 rows), C (28 rows), D (30 rows), DD (32 rows)

waist: 24” (56 chains), 27” (64 chains), 30” (72 chains), 33” (80 chains), 36” (88 chains)

step 1 - make the front panel

take the waist measurement needed

loosely work a chain that measures around 3 inches less than that when stretched and has a number of chains that is divisible by 8 (see suggestions above)

chain 1, turn

note: when working into chains, always work into back loops only

row 1: working into the second chain from the hook, half double crochet across, chain 1, turn, this is the back of your piece

tip: make your decreases in both loops or just the loops closest to the front of your piece

row 2: work 1 half double crochet decrease into the first 2 stitches, half double crochet across, work 1 half double crochet decrease into the last 2 stitches, chain 1, turn

continue repeating row 2, decreasing once on both ends of each row up the height of the piece until you get from the waist over the chest and to shoulder level; you will need an even number of rows and the top row should be around the width of the neck

step 2 - make the straps/border

this is worked all in one piece so do not fasten off until the end

start with 51 chains, working back towards the center into the second chain from the hook, slip stitch loosley into each chain across (50)

working down the left slope of your piece, place a half double crochet into the side of each row all the way through row 1

chain 51, working back towards the center into the second chain from the hook, slip stitch loosley into each chain across (50)

now you will be working into the foundation chain

repeat [single crochet, skip 2 stitches, half double crochet 4 into next stitch, chain 3 picot*, half double crochet 4 into the same stitch, skip 2 stitches, single crochet, slip stitch] across

chain 51, working back towards the center into the second chain from the hook, slip stitch loosley into each chain across (50)

working up the right slope of your piece, place a half double crochet into the side of each row all the way through the top row

chain 51, working back towards the center into the second chain from the hook, slip stitch loosely into each chain across (50)

with the front of your panel facing you, half double crochet into each stitch across the first row, slip stitch to the first chain of the strap

fasten off, weave in all ends and youre done ♡

*picot means chain 3 and then slip stitch into the first of the 3 chains
